I got my annual report a week or so ago along with my ticket and it says the meeting, or party, is Wednesday March 23rd. Maybe it was the 24th last year. Also I seem to have read that they won’t be broadcasting it to anyplace else so if people can’t get into McCaw Hall they will be out luck.

Hi Carole – Thanks for reading StarbucksMelody.com. Hope you’ll “like” the Facebook page. First off, for an official answer, I would email investorrelations@Starbucks.com. I think that 2008 was the last year that Starbucks offered two tickets per shareholder. By 2009, it was shareholder only. I really don’t know what will happen if you try to get in and don’t have a proxy notice. I assume Starbucks would say “no.” I don’t think there are any actual “tickets” anymore either – Just proxy notices only to get in the door.

Maybe I will see you at the meeting. ? I’m having some problems myself getting a proxy (long story) so I’m not sure if I will be there!

Hi Melody,
I hold shares of Starbucks just in my name. In the past when we got the proxy materials by mail, there were always two tickets in there, and my husband and I both attended the meeting which we really enjoyed. We haven’t gone in the last several years, but would like to do this year, and am wondering if bringing the proxy material notice would get both of us in, or whether my husband needs to go out and buy one or two shares? (Not really, but he would like to come along!) Thanks.

@Michael – Come to the meeting! I will see you there in 2011! As I recall, somewhere in all the materials or online it says that if you don’t get a ticket, you can just bring proof of ownership like a recent statement. However, I believe that the the proxy voting form works as a ticket too. Thanks for dropping by StarbucksMelody.com!

I am signed up for the paperless option with my broker, so I received an email linking me to the Proxy Vote. I believe there is an option there to I AM ATTENDING THE MEETING, or I AM VOTING MY SHARES IN PERSON, or something like that. Here is the verbage on the first page of the proxy statement.

Dear Shareholders:
You are cordially invited to attend the Starbucks Corporation 2010 Annual Meeting of Shareholders on
March 24, 2010 at 10 a.m. (Pacific Time). The meeting will be held at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at the Seattle
Center, located on Mercer Street, between Third and Fourth Avenues, in Seattle,Washington. Directions to McCaw
Hall and transportation information appear on the back cover of the notice of annual meeting and proxy statement.
Under the Securities and Exchange Commission rules that allow companies to furnish proxy materials to
shareholders over the Internet, Starbucks has elected to deliver our proxy materials to the majority of our
shareholders over the Internet. This delivery process allows us to provide shareholders with the information
they need, while at the same time conserving natural resources and lowering the cost of delivery. On January 26,
2010, we mailed to our shareholders a Notice of Internet Availability of Proxy Materials (the “Notice”) containing
instructions on how to access our fiscal 2009 proxy statement and 2009 annual report to shareholders. The Notice
also provides instructions on how to vote online or by telephone and includes instructions on how to receive a paper

Michael any stock holder, regardless of whether they own 10 shares or a million, is invited to the annual meeting which is quite an extravanca and, in my opinion, a little bit over done since it is only a shareholders meeting and not a shareholders party. It is strange, however, why you never got your invitation and I think you should definately call them and let them know. Good luck Michael.

My wife and I only hold 600 shares of Starbucks.

Over the last 2/3 years we haven’t received an invite to the yearly stockholders meeting.

What do we need to do to get a yearly invite like we used to ?

Well I guess that answers part of my question why I’m not going to get an annual report. That makes good sence since putting out annual reports means quit a humongous amount of paper will evenually be recycled or go into land fills. I still want to know if I’ll get a ticket or not. Also I know that companies have to have annual meetings and budget for that but I’d like to know how much extra does it cost for all the frills like the mountains of pastries and the enterainment which I am sure is not free. After all it is an annual meeting and not a party.

Well, I found out about the meetings, etc from an email from Schwab. There were links to view the annual report and vote on the shareholder’s proposals.

Most publicly traded companies are going this way, with electronic delivery of materials…I have seen a noticeable decline in materials arriving for our company’s profit sharing plan (which I manage)

No I did not attend last year’s meeting and remember you told me how to see it on the web. I did attend their 2008 meeting however and would like to attend this year’s meeting but so far I haven’t gotten anything in the mail and wondered how you found out the date. Hopefully I’ll get something in the next few days.
