Bryant Simon, author of Everything But The Coffee: Learning About America From Starbucks, is speaking in Seattle at Elliott Bay Books on January 14, 2010. StarbucksMelody is in the middle of reading this book, and will have more to say when the time comes. But for my fellow Seattleite friends who might be interested attending, I’m posting this. Also, this event is at Elliot Bay Books which has been a cornerstone and legendary part of the Pioneer Square neighborhood for decades. There has been news that they’ll soon be closing this store, which such tragic news to me. Pioneer Square needs these kinds of businesses. This blog is also a shout out to fellow Seattleites to come visit this classic bookstore before it’s gone to its new neighborhood in Capitol Hill.

Oh, I bought this book from reading a blurb on SG or somewhere else….I thought it was right on the mark by the end.

I can’t wait to hear your take on Simon’s book Melody – I’m moving through it slower than I’d like, but that’s in part because it’s giving me a lot to think about.
As for the news on Elliott Bay Books – that’s sad to hear. I’ll be out in Seattle in March and that’s always one of my favorite stops.
Ugh. Events like this make me wish I lived in Seattle. I would LOVE attending an evening like this, but sadly we don’t have anything even similar around me. Please enjoy for me? I can’t wait to at least hear your recap/review of it.
