The newest Starbucks shipping container store is newly-opened in the the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, at 15th NW and 53rd NW. The grand opening day was Friday, February 21, 2014. Starbucks teamed up with a Seattle artist for the signage (“Why did we build this…” painted sign) and hand-painted map of Seattle on the side of the store. Seattleite Japhy Witte is credited with the art work.
I have dropped by several times and used the drive-thru and every single time, my experience has been perfect. You will like this store. You’ll get a perfect beverage whether you want brewed coffee, a latte, or any other drink. I’ve met some incredibly friendly partners (Starbucks calls their employees “partners”) at this location including Toby, Betsy, Hailey, and more. Congratulations!
The store’s primary business comes from the drive-thru but there is a walk-up window, and parking for two cars (plus one car with a disabled person permit) in the area in front of the walk-up window.

Very nice store! I like the fact that they put why did we build this on the side of the container.
These container stores are so great. I like that the walk up window is near the signage so that people can read about it while they wait on their beverage. The map of Seattle is also pretty cool as is whatever the artwork is above the walk up window. Looks like a bridge maybe.
I really applaud Starbucks for repurposing these. I hope they continue to roll out a lot more of these soon, with at least one in Southern California.
Since these locations are uncommon, perhaps Starbucks can add verbiage or signage about ‘Walk-up window’ in case people might miss that feature.
I agree – and love the multi-dimensionality* of the art above the window. (* Don’t know if it’s a word, but I’m sticking to it!)
This one doesn’t have patio seating? I presume none of the container locations offer Wi-Fi? Have you seen or received comments aout needing more coverage from the elements (sun, rain) in the walk-up area?

I know you’ve talked before in the comments section about the KC shipping container store. Have you heard anything recently? It’s been almost a year since those articles, but I still can’t find anything about it actual opening. Just thought I’d check with you before my April trip.
@Jason – Good question. At this point, I have to assume that Starbucks planned a shipping container store in Kansas City, then scrapped the idea. Either that, or it’s the quietest opening ever and I have no readers in KC.
